Natural Resource Stewardship
Natural Resource Stewardship
Climate change and growing demand for land and water put intense pressure on Africa's wealth of natural resources. To strengthen local environmental stewardship, we engage men, women, and youth whose lives and futures are linked to the natural world. By empowering communities to use and manage grasslands and water sources sustainably, we create human prosperity, thriving wildlife habitats, and greater climate change resilience.
HOW WE PROMOTE NATURAL RESOURCE STEWARDSHIP

Advance Nature-Based Solutions
We work hand in hand with communities to co-create and co-implement programs that combine traditional knowledge with modern technology and link human well-being with conservation health.

Protect and Restore Vital Water Sources
Together with communities and other partners, we co-implement projects that conserve local watersheds, monitor water quality, measure rainfall, and improve stream health.

Increase Youth Leadership and Involvement as Future Environmental Stewards
Through a strong foundation of youth engagement in our programs, we connect young people with the conservation skills, resources, and educational opportunities they need to create brighter futures for nature and themselves.
“Since joining the Sustainable Rangelands Initiative and monitoring our community pastures monthly, the grass has grown higher than in previous years.”
