Hailing from the Kilimanjaro region, Susan Chege Reuben joined African People & Wildlife (APW) in 2024 as the Youth Environmental Education and Girls Club Program Officer. Susan's journey with our organization began in 2023 when she participated in the African Women in Conservation Initiative as a mentee, later transitioning to an internship with the education program.
With a Bachelor's Degree in Wildlife Management from the College of African Wildlife Management-Mweka, Susan comes to APW with a background in community-based conservation and wildlife management practices.
She previously served as a Research Assistant specializing in chimpanzee foraging at Greater Mahale Ecosystem Research and Conservation (GMERC) and interned at Lake Chala Campsite and Safari Lodge, gaining experience in natural resource identification and interpretation. Susan further enhanced her skills through a conservation technology training program organized by WILDLABS, Fauna & Flora International, Grumeti Fund, and ConTech Africa, which focused on empowering women to use technology tools for solving conservation problems.
