As the Human-Wildlife Conflict Prevention Program Assistant for the Greater Serengeti Landscape, Sadikieli oversees a team of eight coexistence officers across four villages bordering the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. His role is critical to gathering high-quality data to understand trends and factors leading to human-elephant conflict.
A native to this region, Sadikieli is uniquely placed to work with farmers who regularly suffer crop raiding and property damage from elephants. Mr. Joseph recently expanded his role to mitigate human-elephant conflict through the deployment of innovative tools like chili smoke bricks, beehive fences, and noise deterrents. He enjoys working with his fellow community members to appreciate the beauty of elephants beyond their role in conflict.
