Revocatus Magayane
Environmental Education and ACTIVE™ Senior Program Officer
Revocatus Magayane joined Tanzania People & Wildlife in 2013 as the Environmental Education Program Officer. In this role, “Mwalimu Revo” (“teacher Revo” as he is locally called) focuses on implementing education programs for more than 7,000 youth and adults in different communities across northern Tanzania. He manages after-school wildlife clubs, environmental summer camps, and high school scholarships, and co-teaches adult seminars on sustainable natural resource management. After community members complete the seminars, Revocatus helps them move from education to action through the implementation of projects that improve local environmental conditions. In addition to his educational responsibilities, Revocatus acts as a political attaché for community and government relations.
Revocatus grew up on Ukerewe island in Lake Victoria. Prior to his role at Tanzania People & Wildlife, he earned his bachelor’s degree in social studies and interned for a pastoralist organization. He prides himself on “representing the voice of conservation while always considering the need of the community where he works.” In 2015, Revocatus was named a Disney Conservation Hero.
