Kirerenjo Medukenya
Community Conservation and Environment Officer

Kirerenjo Mereso Medukenya joined Tanzania People & Wildlife (TPW) in 2019 as a Rangeland Management Program Officer. In his current role as the Community Conservation and Environment Officer, he collaborates with the Sustainable Rangelands Initiative team and other stakeholders across northern Tanzania to empower pastoral communities to efficiently manage their natural resources for the mutual benefit of livestock and wildlife. He also helps oversee our human-elephant coexistence programming in the Ngorongoro landscape.
Kirerenjo has a Bachelor of Science degree in rangeland management from Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA). In addition, he specializes in animal health and production and has a diploma from the Livestock Training Agency (LITA). Kirerenjo is proud to be a Maasai youth who was born in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a UNESCO World Heritage site where wildlife coexists with pastoralists practicing traditional grazing. He believes that successful and sustainable conservation is only possible when local communities are valued and supported.
