David Castico is a conservation professional from Tanzania with a background in wildlife and land use management issues. In 2023, he was hired as a Human-Wildlife Conflict Prevention Program Officer with African People & Wildlife. Among his responsibilities are overseeing the growing network of Warriors for Wildlife, managing conflict responses across multiple landscapes, and supervising the installation of Living Walls.
David earned his B.Sc. degree in Wildlife Management from the College of African Wildlife Management, which provided him with a solid foundation in the field. In 2024, he received his M.Sc. degree in Geographical Information Systems from the University of Dar es Salaam. Prior to his current position, David researched human-elephant conflicts in Mkomazi National Park and worked as a GIS consultant and analyst for various conservation research and land use planning efforts in East Africa.
David is a passionate nature photographer, and he is committed to using his skills and experience to help protect wildlife and promote sustainable land use practices.
