Collective Giving Program

Collective Giving Program

African People & Wildlife (APW) is pleased to announce a new opportunity to join our efforts through a Collective Giving Program. Membership offers a personalized, insightful, and educational giving experience while supporting APW’s mission to protect endangered wildlife and uplift rural communities.

What are the benefits of joining the Collective Giving Program?
A Collective Giving Program celebrates the joy of philanthropy by making it possible for anyone to take part. Membership involves so much more than writing a check: Learning opportunities allow members to gain in-depth knowledge about APW’s programs by engaging with staff and community members in Tanzania who are impacted by our work. In partnership with APW, participants determine how the funds raised are distributed based on areas of greatest need.

How will the Collective Giving Program support APW?
APW works to ensure a future where humans and wild animals coexist and thrive. As an ambitious, field-based organization, we are seeking new sources of funding that will allow us to save more endangered wildlife and reach new communities in need of support. In particular, unrestricted funds are required to help with organizational capacity-building and programmatic expansion.

Who can participate in the Collective Giving Program?
Membership in the Collective Giving Program is broad and inclusive. Anyone with an interest in community-driven conservation and a desire to support Africa’s people and wildlife can participate. The program is ideal for global citizens who wish to pool their resources for greater impact, learn about one or more of APW’s five conservation priorities, or build their philanthropic and grantmaking skills.

Where and when are meetings held?
The Collective Giving Program brings the experience of Africa’s people and wildlife directly to members through virtual meetings. Members may choose to participate in meetings through group gatherings as geographic locations allow. In addition, founding members are invited to attend in-person meetings in the U.S twice per calendar year. APW will provide information on the times and locations in advance to accommodate travel needs.

What is the timeline for making a financial commitment?
Annual membership includes a solicitation period between September 1st and December 1st. To participate in group activities, members must make a financial commitment by December 15th of each year.

How can new members get involved?
To make your commitment to APW’s Collective Giving Program, please contact Carmen Stevens, APW’s Director of Philanthropy, at cstevens@africanpeoplewildlife.org or visit our secure donation site at Donation Pay.
