2020 Annual Appeal

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted our funding and threatens to reverse significant conservation gains for Africa’s people and wildlife. Now more than ever, we are counting on caring people like you to help to keep our momentum going strong.

Dear Friend,

In the midst of the many threats facing our planet, I am continually inspired by the resilience of people and wildlife in Tanzania’s breathtaking landscapes.

Just 15 years ago, a local lion population faced extinction due to habitat loss and conflict with local people. But thanks to passionate supporters like you, lions like Ndito (above) now thrive on communal lands. Rural women like Neema (below) who once had few choices in life now own sustainable businesses and speak out as conservation leaders. And formerly degraded lands across our programmatic areas are flourishing once again.

Now more than ever, we are counting on caring people like you to keep our momentum going strong. The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted our funding and threatens to reverse significant conservation gains for Africa’s people and wildlife. Our solutions to conserve vulnerable species, protect vital ecosystems, and empower communities are proven and effective. Yet our programs are still urgently needed in many areas.

Will you help us continue our life-saving work by joining our 2020 Annual Appeal?

If you have already made your gift, please enjoy this message as a positive update on our progress together. But if you have yet to contribute, I urge you to do so today.

I know 2020 has been a challenge for everyone. Whatever support you can give today—large or small—will make a powerful impact. Thank you for keeping Africa’s people and wildlife in your mind and heart this year. The actions we take today will shape our world for future generations.

With gratitude,

As a member of the Women’s Beekeeping Initiative, Neema is one of 300 women helping to plan, build, and launch a local enterprise center for honey processing and production. Like many of the 1,260 beekeepers teaming up with APW, Neema’s life has been transformed by the initiative.

“In the past, our job as women was to cook and give birth to our children, but now we are leaders in our community. We have moved from struggle to success.”
