Our Vision

Our Vision

We envision a world where rural communities and wildlife coexist and thrive, united through our human understanding of the synergies between conservation and sustainable development.

Our Theory of Change recognizes that by understanding the needs of both people and wildlife and by listening to and investing in people, we create a powerful and collaborative working environment that emphasizes mutually shared goals and advances the idea of balance. As members of this supportive environment and given access to the unique attributes of our community-driven conservation model, rural Africans can effect real, on-the-ground change for the enhanced management and conservation of their natural resources.

OUR CORE VALUES

Balance

We value the concept of symmetry and emphasize win-win and synergistic outcomes for people and wildlife. We support inclusivity and recognize that a harmony of ideas, actions, and outcomes arises out of an early acknowledgment of diverse perspectives and abilities.

Innovation

We are a nimble and flexible organization, astute at listening to the ideas and needs of our constituencies. By evaluating existing practices, encouraging strong science, and learning from our experiences and partners, we continually push the needle forward and develop new models, tools, and concepts.

Collaboration

We champion community partnerships and believe that multiple people and organizations must come together to work on conservation and development challenges. Our emphasis is on effective and meaningful engagement that elevates our combined impact on the ground.

Respect and Responsibility

We treat our co-workers, partners, supporters, and local constituencies with dignity and integrity, embracing a diversity of opinions and ideas. We acknowledge and ensure that we are accountable to society for our actions from financial, social, ethical, and environmental points of view.

Action-oriented

We recognize the time-sensitive nature of our work and the need to remain adaptive and dynamic in the face of change. We are committed and determined to ensuring strong results and measurable outcomes from our efforts. We are focused on positive, real, on-the-ground impact.

Empowerment

We believe in mobilizing and uplifting our co-workers, partners, and local constituencies. We work as a catalyst to inspire and motivate community-driven change, investing in our constituents with information, advice, support, and mentorship in the pursuit of their natural resource management objectives.
