Tracy Higgins

Tracy Higgins is a Professor of Law at Fordham University School of Law and the founder and co-director of the Leitner Center for International Law and Justice. A leading voice in international human rights and feminist jurisprudence, she has been a member of the Fordham faculty since 1992 and a full professor since 2002. Her research focuses on gender equality, constitutional law, and customary legal systems, with fieldwork experience across Africa, Latin America, Asia, and Eastern Europe.

Higgins is co-editor of The Future of African Customary Law and has published extensively in prominent academic journals. She serves on the Board of Advisors for Princeton University's School of Public and International Affairs, is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and previously served with the Lawyers’ Committee for Human Rights. She holds a B.A. in Economics from Princeton University and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
